Hints and tips when shopping for plastic cards.
Tough laminated plastic cards are a great way of creating a lasting impression.
Traditional credit card size designs are now used everyday by associations,
businesses, clubs, holiday, security, tourism service industries and marketing
companies because they are long lasting, versatile and tamper proof. When
planning your plastic card project it is always good to take certain factors
into consideration when creating your design as they will greatly affect
the price i.e. the quantity, whether they are to be printed on one or both
sides, how many colours, how many customised processes required and how
intricate the design. These factors will determine mode of printing i.e.
foil block print or screen print. Foil printing is not capable of reproducing
tints or very fine detail and block is required for each colour and each
side if the design is different on the back. In
screen printing a %colour tint is classed as a separate colour. It is useful
to give a pantone colour reference which allows the printer to match colours
thus avoiding disappointment. Offset litho print is more economic for much
larger quantities. Ideal uses are for prestigious business cards, discount
cards, loyalty cards, membership cards, identity cards and for seasonal
incentives or promotions. Identity cards can be customised to individual
specifications with the addition of Signature Strips, Seals, Magnetic Stripes/Encoding,
Sequential Numbering in a choice of colour cards printed front and back
or on one side only. As there can sometimes be gliches in the initial
stages of design, supply of artwork, print and finishing, it is always much
better for a professional to produce artwork in the correct format than
to receive ready artwork which might not be suitable this saves delays and
costly mistakes. Most companies include the production of standard artwork
in the price so clarify this point when obtaining a quote. In most cases
